Fall Training
It's good to be back!
Hello to everyone far and wide!
It was a very busy summer in Washington after getting back from the Iditarod this spring! With doing 67 school visits, Iditarod presentations, my regular full-time construction job, spending evenings working on sponsorship seeking, I was overjoyed to be able to pack my bags and my camper and head back to Montana! It was eating me up having to wait for mid-September to come!
I have to say it’s taking a little while to get readjusted to being in Montana. Where I live in Washington it’s very busy, there’s a lot of commotion and a lot of people. I am very close to my family so I talked to them quite often; I have a close group of friends and a work crew that we all enjoy each other’s company. Out here in Montana from morning till the afternoon, ’m by myself. I enjoy it, just having it be me and my dogs, but it takes a little bit of getting used to. When I hear a rumble of a truck it’s funny how excited you get thinking it might be the neighboring rancher and you have somebody to talk to for a while!
I don’t have TV so I spend most of the evenings reading and logging what I’ve done for the day in my training book. It’s incredible how deafening the silences is here…… well that is until Reba starts howling and gets the whole kennel to join in! What a beautiful sound, hearing all the dogs in the quiet night singing a goodnight song! It sure feels good to be back behind the team again! Here are a few photos of some of our recent runs. I have a lot of young leaders this year and I’m really working hard at giving them the best opportunity to be up front! I’m really excited about this year!
Anyway, stay tuned and I’ll keep you updated with more later on!
